About HSU
You’ll never find another place like Hardin-Simmons University. We are a Baptist university in Abilene, Texas, with more than 130 years of history and traditions that aren’t matched at any other school, and that gives HSU a personality as big as the West Texas horizon.
HSU’s Mission, Vision, and Statement of Faith
Meet President Eric Bruntmyer
Eric Bruntmyer was elected in February 2016 by the Board of Trustees as HSU’s 16th President. Eric continues the tradition of embracing community engagement and service as a principal priority for HSU. Guided by deep convictions and infused with bold vision, Eric’s leadership embodies the spirit of West Texas and the University’s call to live out her mission in providing an Education Enlightened by Christian Faith and Values.
The HSU Difference
Breaking barriers. The founders, the students, the alumni of Hardin-Simmons - all of them have a history of tearing down spiritual and physical walls. This is the legacy of our university that, along with its traditions and personality, make it very different ... in a good way.
HSU Traditions
Texas students are familiar with beloved ... and sometimes strange ... traditions at some large public universities. Hardin-Simmons, though, has several unique and endearing traditions you might not know about that rival anything you can find at bigger schools.
A Baptist University
Hardin-Simmons is proud to uplift and maintain our Baptist identity. You can learn more about our beliefs, our Baptist roots, and our affiliation with The Baptist General Convention of Texas and the greater Baptist community.
